This Week's Album: Beethoven - Complete Works for Cello & Piano

Like many people, I tend to find favorite artists and albums and listen to them over and over.  One of my goals for 2016 is to expand my music library and listen to new recordings and to artists with whom I am less familiar.  By doing so, I hope to introduce myself to 50+ new recordings this year.  I hope you enjoy following along, and maybe discovering some new music yourself.

This week's album is Beethoven - Complete Works for Cello and Piano performed by Xavier Phillips (cello) and François-Frédéric Guy (piano).  I've already listened to this twice in two days, and expect it to become part of my regular rotation.

Although the album is named "Beethoven," it begins with a track of 12 variations on "See the Conqu'ring Hero Comes" followed by two tracks of variations on themes from Mozart's Magic Flute.  Following these variations are Beethoven's Sonata for Cello and Piano Nos. 1-5.
